Clear Lake, IA – The Humboldt boys soccer team won a thriller in overtime on the road against the Clear Lake Lions 3-2 Thursday night.

This was the second meeting between the two teams, as Humboldt won the first matchup on April 10 over the Lions 7-1. The Cats trailed 1-0 at the end of the first half at Lions Field, but would battle back with two goals by Christhian Ramirez to counteract a second half goal by Clear Lake. With Humboldt and Clear Lake knotted at 2 after 80 minutes of play on the pitch, the Wildcats and Lions went in to a 10 minute sudden death overtime period with the first score resulting in the victory. The overtime period would see Ramirez register his third goal of the evening to give Humboldt the 3-2 victory and the season sweep of the Lions.

For Clear Lake, goals were scored by Travaughn Luyobya and Weston Conway.

With the win, Humboldt improves to 9-1 (7-1 NCC) and takes on the Wright County Soccer Club on Friday at 5:00 p.m. from the Humboldt High School Soccer Field.
