Multiple agencies assist on barn fire in Thor

Thor, IA – A barn was engulfed in flames Wednesday afternoon in rural Humboldt County near Thor. The incident occurred at 3152 230th St. in Thor, with the call coming in at 4:13 p.m. According to property owner Gary Fisher, a side-by-side vehicle was driven into the entrance way of the barn and after turning his back for a second, the side-by-side erupted into flames, spreading to the barn structure.

Goldfield Fire Chief Matt Lewis, representing the Goldfield Volunteer Fire Department who was first on scene, broke down the situation the department encountered.

According to Chief Lewis, there were no injuries at the scene. In addition to the Goldfield volunteer fire department, crews from Humboldt, Thor, and Renwick were also on scene battling the blaze. Renwick ambulance was also on scene providing water to crews working. Humboldt County Sheriff Dean Kruger and embers of the office were on scene as well.
