Humboldt, IA – An escaped prisoner being transported from Webster County to the Humboldt County Jail at the Humboldt Law Enforcement Center (LEC) was apprehended within 20 minutes of his escape today in Humboldt.

32-year-old Jesse Carlson of Fort Dodge was the prisoner who escaped. Humboldt County Sheriff Chief Deputy Corey Lampe provided an update after the scene unfolded.

Video evidence showed that contrary to Lampe’s statement, Carlson was the second prisoner to leave the transport van and entered the LEC before shortly leaving through the same door as the third and final prisoner was led inside.

According to Chief Deputy Lampe, the charges that Carlson faced when he was being held in Webster County were for Violation of Probation, a criminal charge for harassment, and a failure to report charge. Lampe in addition to Humboldt County Sheriff Dean Kruger say that this is an example of why everyone should lock their houses, secure their vehicles and not leave weapons in their vehicles.
