Humboldt, IA – An arrest has been made in multiple burglaries in Humboldt and Dakota City this week.
18-year-old Christopher Reed of Humboldt has been charged with four counts of 3rd Degree Burglary of a motor vehicle, an aggravated misdemeanor and 3rd Degree Burglary, a Class D Felony.
According to a joint press release by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and the Humboldt Police Department, the night of Dec. 20 at approximately 9:20 p.m., the Humboldt County LEC Communication Center received a report of a male burglarizing vehicles on 3rd St. S. in Humboldt.
The quick response by the Humboldt Police Department and Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the apprehension of Reed. Further investigation by authorities led to them identifying Reed as the same male that burglarized Casey’s in Dakota City on Dec. 15.
Following his initial appearance before the magistrate on Thursday, Reed is being held in the Humboldt County Jail on $5,000 surety or 10% cash bond.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office says this is a prime example of if you see something, to say something and is reminding all citizens to lock their vehicle doors when leaving their vehicles.
