According to a press release by the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, it was at approximately 7:45 p.m. Thursday night that the Kossuth County Law Enforcement Center received a 911 call of a house fire at the home of 79-year-old Marvin Tripp and 58-year-old Donna Tripp at 403 5th St. in Burt. Marvin Tripp was later pronounced dead. Donna Tripp was also taken to the Kossuth Regional Health Center and later transported to Mercy Hospital in Mason City. The home was a total loss due to the fire.

Marvin and the family black lab passed away due to injuries suffered in the fire. Donna Tripp is currently at Mercy in Mason City where her condition is unknown at the time of this press release.
