Fort Dodge man apprehended in Bode, is person of interest in homicide

Bode, IA – A Fort Dodge man wanted on a parole violation and as a person of interest in the shooting death of Ryan Andrews on Dec. 29 was arrested in Bode Wednesday.

37-year-old David Dayton of Fort Dodge was apprehended at a residence (501 2nd St.) in Bode Wednesday after investigators received information regarding the whereabouts of Dayton.

At approximately 1:14 p.m. Wednesday, multiple law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant for a parole violation at the residence where numerous attempts were made with Dayton before finally surrendering to authorities. Dayton was taken into custody on a parole violation out of Pocahontas County.

Twin Rivers Elementary School, located three blocks from the scene, was placed under a precautionary lockdown.

Agencies assisting in the incident were The Fort Dodge Police Department, the Iowa State Patrol, the Iowa State Patrol Tactical team, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations, the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Humboldt County Emergency Services, and the Webster County Attorney’s office.
