Three dead after shooting in rural Webster County Sunday night

Webster Co., IA – The Webster County Sheriff’s Office is reporting three people died in a shooting in rural Webster County Sunday night.

According to a press release, at 7:40 p.m. the Webster County Telecommunication Center received a call from 2101 140th St. in rural Webster County and the juvenile caller stated that two people had been shot at this location, and the suspect had fled the location on foot. Webster County Deputies arrived within minutes of this call and after entering the residence and located two females that had been shot laying in the garage area of the residence.

Deputies immediately attempted life saving medical procedures on both victims until paramedics arrived on scene, however; the attempts were not successful, and both victims died at the scene.

Other responding Deputies and Fort Dodge Police Officers searched the immediate area of the residence and located a male that appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Molly Barlow, Phyllis Versteeg and Duran Barlow.

The Webster County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Fort Dodge Police Department, the Iowa State Patrol, Badger Fire Department, Clare Fire Department, the Fort Dodge Fire Department, the Webster County Attorney’s Office and the Webster County Medical Examiner’s Office.
