Humboldt splits with Clear Lake at home Tuesday

Humboldt, IA – Humboldt boys’ and girls’ basketball split a North Central Conference doubleheader with the Clear Lake Lions Tuesday night.

Humboldt girls’ basketball opened up the night completing a sweep of the season series against the Lions with a 65-57 victory, their first time doing so since the 2008-09 season. For Humboldt, Morgan Mann had 25 points and Ava Fischer recorded 22. For Clear Lake, Taylor Schwenn and Madi Ott each had 14. With the win, Humboldt wraps up the regular season at 17-4 (12-2 NCC) and finished second in NCC behind Algona.

Humboldt boys’ would follow the girls’ matchup and were swept in the season series against Clear Lake with a 80-67 home loss. For Humboldt, Evan Hatcher paced all scorers with 33 points and Corey Dettmann had 11. For the Lions, Max Larson and Cael Stephany each contributed 16 to the winning effort. With the loss, Humboldt falls to at 13-5 (9-4 NCC).

Up next, Humboldt’s boys’ basketball will wrap up NCC play Friday at Iowa Falls-Alden with a 7:45 p.m. tip-off and the girls’ will now head into postseason play with brackets released tomorrow.
