Fire Weather Conditions prevalent today

(KHBT) – The National Weather Service says brisk winds, dry vegetation, and lower relative humidity will combine to produce elevated fire weather conditions later today for much of north central and eastern Iowa from the midday to the early evening.

Early morning southwest winds will become northwest area-wide later this morning with gusts as high as 25 to 35 mph possible and relative humidity may drop to as low as 25 to 35 percent by afternoon.

The agency says that burning is discouraged under these conditions and to take care to prevent the start of accidental fires when smoking or operating vehicles around dry vegetation.
