Humboldt, IA – Humboldt County Memorial Hospital (HCMH) is set to undergo a 1400 square foot expansion of their Mental Health and Wellness Center a year after the center opened.

HCMH CEO Michelle Sleiter told KHBT news that the demand for services warrants the expansion.

Following a closed session on March 26 during the HCMH Board of Trustees meeting, the board approved the expansion for an estimated $250,000 expansion to the center using the hospital’s staff maintenance for construction. The 1400 square foot expansion is a space that was a large apartment in Springvale Independent Living prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new space will feature six rooms, three for therapists, and one psychiatrist or an additional nurse practitioner and one certified medical assistant.

Construction is planned for May 1 and expected to last five months.
