Local counties included in Gov. Reynolds’ disaster proclamation from severe weather Tuesday

(KHBT) – Governor Kim Reynolds has added more Iowa counties impacted by Tuesday’s severe weather to the disaster emergency proclamation.

An additional seventeen counties are now be eligible for assistance from the state. Within the KHBT listening area, counties that are included in the proclamation are Hancock, Humboldt, Kossuth, and Palo Alto. There are a total of 32 counties now in the proclamation, a third of the state.

The governor’s disaster proclamation activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program, which grants up to $5,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level. Grants are available for home or car repairs, clothing or food replacement, and temporary housing expenses.
