Webster Co., IA – Criminal charges are pending in an ongoing investigation in a case of animal neglect in rural Webster County near Badger.

According to a press release, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on Thursday at a residence with the assistance of the Webster County Animal Control and the Iowa Animal Rescue League. In the search, 29 adult dogs and puppies were relocated after reports of a property owner with malnourished animals that were not being seen for medical treatment.

During the investigation, two of the puppies were released by the owner and taken to a veterinarian by Animal Control. The puppies had a severe worm infection and were found to be very emaciated, underfed, and clinically unhealthy by the veterinarian. The veterinarian report showed the puppies’ body condition to be a two out of nine.
