Humboldt, IA – Humboldt Police Chief Joel Sanders is in his final few days with the Humboldt Police Department as the 34-year veteran of law enforcement closes out his career.
Chief Sanders was hired four years ago from the Urbana Police Department and says family back in the Champaign, Illinois area was a motivating factor in the decision.
Chief Sanders thanked the Humboldt community for a warm reception during his time as Chief.
Humboldt City Administrator Cole Bockelmann says that the city has hired a new Chief, yet details can’t be released until the next City Council session.
Currently, an Interim Chief through Edgar Solutions, Travis Ouverson, has been working to help with the transition of the Humboldt Police Department. The City is also in the process of reviewing applications with the next Chief of Police for patrol positions within the department.
