Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and the National Weather Service (NWS) have joined together to promote Severe Weather Awareness Week, March 24-28.
That’s Humboldt County EMA Director Kyle Bissell on the record number of severe weather events. He says Severe Weather Awareness Week gets the public back into the swing of things as the temperatures start to warm.
Monday’s focus is on lightning safety.
Other tips regarding lighting safety if outside includes avoiding open spaces, high ground, boats, bodies of water, trees, tents, and pavilions. If indoors, avoid taking a bath or shower, using electronic equipment, corded phones, concrete floors and walls, and windows.
Tuesday’s focus will be on tornado safety.
