Humboldt, IA – The season opener for Humboldt boys’ soccer saw the Wildcats put together a big second half on their way to a 5-1 over North Central Conference (NCC) foe Iowa Falls-Alden at the Humboldt High School Soccer Field Monday night.

Humboldt led 2-1 at the half before scoring three unanswered goals in the second half to get the victory. Opening the scoring for Humboldt in the 12th minute was Johnny Hayden followed by Nico Christensen in the 31st minute. After a foul, the Cadets were set up with a Penalty Kick and Brandon Asaeda used that opportunity to break the shutout in the 36th minute to close the deficit to one goal in the first half.

The second half would see an evenly balanced match with both teams having scoring chances that went unconverted before Humboldt opened things up late. With the win, Humboldt improved to 1-0 (1-0 NCC) and Iowa Falls-Alden falls to 0-3 (0-3 NCC). The Wildcats head to Belmond-Klemme on Thursday to face Wright County Soccer, the conglomerate of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, Eagle Grove, and Belmond-Klemme in NCC play.
