Two juveniles apprehended in pursuit on U.S. 20 Monday east of Fort Dodge

Fort Dodge, IA – Two juveniles were apprehended in a high speed chase on U.S. Highway 20 Monday afternoon near Duncombe.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 21, the Fort Dodge Police Department was in pursuit of a Toyota Camry that had been reported stolen. The Iowa State Patrol assisted with the pursuit which that headed east of Fort Dodge on U.S. 20. The suspect’s vehicle crossed into the roadway into oncoming traffic in the westbound lanes of U.S. 20 with speeds in excess of 100 mph.

Troopers made vehicle contact to end the pursuit, disabling the suspect’s vehicle in the median of U.S. 20 near Duncombe. The driver, an unnamed 15-year-old male, fled on foot and was eventually apprehended. A passenger in the vehicle, an unnamed 13-year-old female, was also taken into custody. No serious injuries were reported in the chase and the names of the two juveniles have not been released by law enforcement.

Assisting in the pursuit were the Iowa State Patrol, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, and Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Fort Dodge Fire & Rescue was dispatched to the scene.
