2025 Track and Field Championships – Day One

Des Moines, IA – Day one of the 2025 Iowa High School Track and Field State Championships wrapped up Thursday at the Blue Oval in Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

Humboldt senior Tyler Carlson finished tied for fourth in 3A Boys’ High Jump at 6’3”. Carlson was the lone medal winner for Humboldt in Day One. Freshman Aubry Fisher placed 17th in the 3A 3000 meter run with a time of 10:56.68, the first event at the state meet for Fisher.

The 4×800 meter relay of Jackson Dodd, Chase Flaherty, Mason Van Pelt, and Jackson Flaherty placed 10th in the 3A 4×800 meter relay with a time of 8:07.10, just missing the podium by two positions.

The final event for Humboldt in Day One, the Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of Tyler Carlson, Valley Davis, Griffin Groat, and Jackson Dodd place 14th in the preliminary race with a time of 1:03.26. Only the top eight advanced to Saturday’s finals race.

The second day of the 2025 Iowa High School Track and Field Championships start back up at 9 a.m. Humboldt’s schedule for the day includes:

  • Long Jump – 9:00 a.m.

    • Gracey May, Brynn Malo, Landry Lash, Bella Metli
    • Alternates: Meg Zweibohmer, Payton Elman, Avery Fisher, Kate Sievers
  • Shot Put – 11:30 a.m.

    • Isaiah Busick
