2025 Track and Field Championships – Day Two

Des Moines, IA – Day two of the 2025 Iowa High School Track and Field State Championships wrapped up Friday at the Blue Oval in Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

The Class 3A Girls’ Distance Medley team for Humboldt took 22nd with a time of 4:25.46. Gracey May ran the first leg of the race.

Landry Lash ran second for Humboldt.

Senior Bella Metli ran the third leg of the race, the first time the senior has ran at the Blue Oval in what would be her final race of her high school career.

Brynn Malo ran the anchor leg of the race.

Humboldt Head Girls’ Track Coach Spencer Ross on the Distance Medley team’s performance.

One final event remains for the Humboldt girls’ tomorrow, the 800 meter run finals with Brynn Malo. Ross discussed his junior’s upcoming race.

That race will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday.

On the boys’ side, Humboldt senior Elliot Carlson placed 13th in 3A Boys’ Long Jump at 20’ 8.75”.

Carlson made his second consecutive appearance in the long jump this year, having just missed out on a medal by placing ninth in his junior season in 2024.

In the final event for the Humboldt boys’ track team in the 2025 state meet, the boys’ 3A Shot Put saw Humboldt senior Isaiah Busick place 17th with a distance of 48’ 11”.

Humboldt junior Jack Guy placed 22nd in the shot put with a distance of 43’ 7.75″.
