City of Humboldt to take a proactive approach to code enforcement

Humboldt, IA – The City of Humboldt is making the switch to a proactive model that is no longer based solely on complaints for code enforcement. The announcement by the city came through a Facebook post Wednesday.

The city of Humboldt will be rotating through four areas of town each week until September 1st. The goals for the city include ensuring compliance with ordinances and regulations related to property maintenance, zoning, building, and other areas that affect public health, safety, and welfare.

The city will starting with Area 1 (Northwest Quadrant) during the current week. The rotation will begin with Area 2 starting the week of June 23, Area 3 during the week of June 30, and Area 4 during the week of July 7. The weekly rotation will continue in that order until September 1st.

The city says that if you receive a violation notice through a green door tag or letter, the specific violation and required abatement will be listed. Questions can be directed to Humboldt City Hall at (515) 332-3435.
