Humboldt, IA – A change order with Dixon Construction is costing the city of Humboldt just under an extra $60,000 for the Eagle Ridge Nature Trail Pedestrian Bridge project. The is cost raising by a total of $59,501.20 with the change.

Joey Whitehouse is a civil engineer with ISG on the project and says the change comes in needing to stabilize the bridge.

Whitehouse says several changes were needed to be done to keep moving the project forward.

The recent flooding last year along with the river itself flowing through the area were reasons for the change to further stabilize the bridge. Humboldt City Administrator Cole Bockelmann says the change won’t hurt the budget as the bridge came in under the original engineer’s estimate cost for the project.
