Whittemore, IA – A Kossuth County man has died as a result of injuries sustained in a fireworks-related accident.
According to press release from the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, 33-year-old Patrick Prentice of Whittemore succumbed to injuries from a fireworks-related accident after being transported to the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona.
The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office says they received a 911 call around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday of a male subject that was unconscious and had been reportedly injured while shooting off fireworks in Whittemore. Law Enforcement personnel and Kossuth County and Whittemore EMS responded and found Prentice. Prentice was transported to Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona, where he died from his injuries. An initial investigation into the incident found that the accident occurred as Prentice was holding a launcher tube while lighting fireworks.
The State Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy on Prentice.
