Humboldt, IA – A Humboldt man was arrested Tuesday on a perjury charge.

53-year-old Kent Segebart of Humboldt was arrested on a warrant for perjury, a class D Felony, in relation to allegedly falsifying documents submitted as evidence in a civil court case.

According to a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, the arrest stems from an April 3, 2025 request by the Humboldt County Magistrate for the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a possible case of perjury.

In their investigation, deputies uncovered documents that had been altered and submitted as evidence during a civil court case during the early months of 2024. The investigation’s findings determined the documents of the official proceedings were known to be false by Segebart at the time they were entered.

Segebart was transported to the Humboldt County Jail and was released on the same after a family member posted $5,000 cash bond.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Humboldt County Magistrate and the Humboldt County Attorney.
