Tennessee woman charged with allegedly stealing money from payroll at a business in Pocahontas

Pocahontas, IA – A Tennessee woman has been arrested on charges out of Pocahontas County for allegedly stealing money from her place of employment through payroll.

According to a press release from the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office, on December 24, the sheriff’s office was contacted by a local business to report that one of their employees had been fraudulently stealing money from them via payroll. It was reported that it had been possibly occurring for over a year before being discovered. The business was not named in the press release.

After the investigation, 35-year-old Cassandra Weaver of Cleveland, Tennessee, formerly of Pocahontas, was charged with 1) Ongoing Criminal Conduct – Class B Felony, 2) 1st Degree Fraudulent Practices – Class C Felony, 3) 1st Degree Theft – Class C Felony, and 4) 2nd Degree Theft – Class D Felony.

On January 12, Weaver was placed into custody in Tennessee and is awaiting extradition back to Iowa.
