Diedrick places third at 2026 IGHSAU State Wrestling Tournament

Coralville, IA – The second day of the 2026 Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) State Wrestling Tournament wrapped up from Xtream Arena in Coralville Friday.

Junior Danica Diedrick started the day in the semifinal round, as she fell by a 5-1 decision to No. 1 Bricsia Garcia-Vasquez of West Liberty in the semifinal round. The junior would avenge the loss with a pair of pins to close out a third-place finish in the tournament, in the consolation semifinal by fall over No. 11 Izzy Taylor of Anamosa in 3:56 and in the third-place match by fall over No. 6 Kayma Burleson of Clear Lake in 4:39.

Diedrick concludes her season at 38-4 as a NCC Champion, 1A-4 Regional Champion, and state place winner at 3rd at the State Tournament.
