Humboldt, IA – More details regarding a two-vehicle accident last Tuesday north of Humboldt on US Highway 169 that resulted in a vehicle rollover are being released by authorities.
According to the crash report from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 10:33 a.m. a week ago today, a 2024 Toyota RAV was traveling northbound on Hwy 169 while a 2011 Chrysler 200 was traveling eastbound on 170th Street. The Chryseler 200 ran the stop sign and struck the Toyota RAV on the driver’s rear door causing the RAV to enter the east ditch of HWY 169, roll once and come to rest on the passenger side. The Chrysler 200 entered the north ditch of 170th Street coming to rest on its wheels.
Both drivers suffered minor injuries with the driver of the RAV transported to Humboldt County Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
Each of the vehicles were deemed totaled in the report along with a business sign suffering an approximate $500 of damage.
The driver of the Chrysler 200, 18-year-old Joseph Holobovich of Algona, was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way, a violation of an instruction permit, and for speeding.
