Clarion, IA – The Humboldt Wildcats softball team also picked up a convincing road win, defeating Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 9-1 to complete a season sweep of the Cowgirls.
Humboldt set the tone early, scoring two runs in the first inning and steadily pulling away with three runs in the second and a pair of runs in the fifth. The Wildcats offense produced timely hits throughout the lineup, never allowing Clarion-Goldfield-Dows to build momentum.
In the circle, Adalie Nolting delivered a strong start, pitching five innings while allowing just one unearned run on one hit. She struck out three and issued only one walk in a controlled performance.
Offensively, Claire Dieleman and Kayleigh Vinsand each drove in two runs, while Hayden Graaf and Jazzie Dodd also contributed RBI hits as Humboldt maintained control from start to finish.
With the win, the Wildcats improve to 8-17 (5-8 NCC). Humboldt returns home Tuesday to host No. 15 (2A) Pocahontas Area in non-conference action at 7:30 p.m.
