Humboldt, IA – Humboldt Mayor Walter Jensen has issued a proclamation requiring anyone under the age of 16 at Taft Park to be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian.

Jensen made the declaration 9 a.m. Friday in front of Humboldt City Hall following recent incidents at the park.

The declaration states, “All persons at Taft Park under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian.”

The order is effective immediately and remains in effect through November 1.

Humboldt Police Chief Jacob Miller said there have been several incidents at Taft Park during the past couple of weeks.

“We’re asking the community to help us with Taft Park. There’s been some incidents there in the last couple of weeks. Those are being handled through the normal legal process that we’ve apprehended or investigating, but we’re just asking for parents and the community to keep an eye on that particular park,” Miller said.

Anyone with questions about the emergency declaration is asked to contact the Humboldt Police Department at 515-332-2600.
