Humboldt, IA – LEC leadership is appreciative of their great staff and community for their support as they continue to serve and protect the community in many ways.
KHBT news and local law enforcement leadership salutes the local law enforcement. Police Administrator for the Humboldt Police Department and Humboldt County Sheriff Dean Kruger talks about his staff at the Law Enforcement Center and how they go above and beyond.
Kruger says that as law enforcement they are asked to handle many situations. He says beyond just “arresting people” law enforcement will be responsible for handling fragile situations. The sheriff says that sometimes they have to step into domestic situations and “play marriage counselor.” He also highlight that they have to deal with out of control adults and children, help with mental health subjects, manage the sex offenders list and gun registrations.
He says he’s very appreciative of the “great group” of individuals he works with at the LEC. “I feel that we have a very good group of deputies, we have a good group of police officers” Kruger says. The sheriff also says that he would expand his complements to his jailers and dispatchers as well at the LEC. He says he is “very pleased with what they do.”
In a time where law enforcement seems to scrutinized, Kruger says he is glad to live in a community that supports their local law enforcement. “I guess I look at it like us, we’re just small departments here and we get a lot of support” he says. He continues by saying that right now he wouldn’t want to live in a big town as law enforcement. “I like Humboldt and the small community because I think we do get a lot of support from people.”
Police Administrator and County Sheriff Dean Kruger has been in law enforcement for 35 years. He says he’s glad he got into law enforcement and encourages those considering a career to start learning as soon as possible.
