Dakota City, IA – The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors moving forward with the bonding process by entering an agreement.

During the meeting of the supervisors on Monday, Aug. 17, they continued the discussion of bonding out some of the counties substantial debt. The main piece they are looking to bond is the lease with Motorola attached to the upgraded radio equipment at the county’s Law Enforcement Center.

During this meeting they reopened discussions by meeting via teleconference with Senior Vice President with D.A. Davison and Company Michael Maloney. The main discussions on bonding included adding some other improvement projects to the bond. This was suggested during the last meetings due to the historically low interest rate. Present to propose add-ons to the board were firefighters from around the county, Sheriff Dean Kruger, members of the county conservation board and Humboldt City’s Administrator Travis Goedken and Mayor Dan Scholl.

After group presented their proposal the supervisors charged Maloney to compile the list so that it can be discussed and finalized during their next meeting. The official action taken by the board during the meeting was separate from these discussions. The board moved to authorize the chairman to sign an Underwriting/Placement Agent Engagement Letter with D.A. Davidson.

Approving this letter does not obligate the county to begin bonding but does continue the process so the next steps can begin. The county will continue their discussion of bonding during their next meeting on Aug. 24.
