Iowa SOS join with top state football programs to encourage voting

Des Moines, IA – Iowa’s Secretary of State has joined forces with some of the state’s college football teams to help promote voting.

Announced via a press release from the Office of Secretary Paul Pate he announces the new #BeAVoter initiative. This new partnership is with college football coaches from the University of Iowa, Iowa State, Northern Iowa and Drake to promote voter registration and participation.

Secretary Pate says that he wants to “thank Kirk Ferentz, Matt Campbell, Mark Farley and Todd Stepsis for stepping up and helping us promote the #BeAVoter initiative.” He also says that “these great coaches are well-regarded across Iowa and the nation, and they can make a big impact on encouraging people to engage in the process.”

Iowa State’s Head Coach Matt Campbell says the he believes that “our democracy becomes stronger and more representative of us all with every voter. He urges “all Iowans to do their part on November 3rd and get out and vote.”  Whether it’s in person or via an absentee ballot, he hopes everyone exercises this right that can make a positive impact within our communities.

The partnership between Secretary Pate and the football coaches was developed through Learfield IMG College, which owns the athletics multimedia right for the four schools. More information about voting in the state of Iowa can be found at VoterRead.Iowa.gov.
