Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt High School security cameras are getting adjustments to make them more efficient and better at keeping the students safe.

During the most recent meeting of the Humboldt Community School District’s Board of Education they heard from Superintendent Jim Murray about security cameras. This includes the new cameras to be put in the high school parking lot and the cameras in the high school getting adjusted to eliminate blind spots.

Present for these discussions were High School Principal Dr. Paul Numedahl and Assistant Principal Abby Horbach. Both met with Murray and Matthew Hankiin out of the Baker Group. Murray tells the board that they are close to getting a quote.

In the parking lot administration is making sure they have all the bases covered. They plan to have four cameras in place that can easily see all parts of the lot along with the athletic facilities. They will also place two cameras by the park lot entrances that will allow them to catch license plates if the need arises.

For inside the school they are looking to adjust some of the camera’s to eliminate “blind spots” within the halls. This includes moving and adjusting exciting cameras as well as the possibility of adding new ones.

Administration tells the board that they should be able to use the same server to operate all cameras, new or old. There were some questions about memory capacity with the addition of new cameras. Additional equipment for the security cameras at Humboldt High School will include a larger screen in Assistant Principal Horbach’s office.

The Humboldt CSD Board of Education thanked the administrative team for the update and began to ponder the idea of doing the same work at the other school buildings. Later details on the security cameras at Humboldt High School will be released at a later date.
