Humboldt football dominates Webster City in season opener

Webster City, IA -Friday night was a special night for the Humboldt Wildcats football program as they opened the season with a dominating 35-7 victory over rival Webster City on the road. The Wildcats struck gold in the first quarter with a 77 yard pitch and catch from Senior Caden Matson to Jacob Heier to give the Wildcats a 7-0 lead. Lance Coon set up the next touchdown with a long run and Caden Matsen and Will Orness did the rest to make it 14-0.

Big plays played a big factor in this game, and this long touchdown near the end of the 1st half was huge.

Caden Matson would finish the night with 5 passing touchdowns, 3 to Will Orness and 2 to Jacob Heier. Wildcats  Head Coach Derrick Elman commented on his senior quarterback.

Next up for the Wildcats is their home opener against Garner Hayfield Ventura on Friday.
