Area World War II Veteran set to celebrate 100th birthday

LuVerne, IA – KHBT salutes a World War II Veteran that  will be celebrating his 100th birthday on Saturday. Donald “Ding” Kruse of LuVerne served in World War 2 from April 1st 1943 to November 21st 1945. His nephew Bill Bohan has some background on Kruse and his service in World War war II.

Kruse was a  member of the 895th Anti-Aircraft Battalion in General Patton’s  3rd army. 

Kruse’s discharge paper states that he fought in the battles and campaigns of Normandy, Ardens, Rhineland, and Central Europe.

After the war, returned to the farm in LuVerne.
