IGHSAU sanctions Girls Wrestling; Humboldt girls finish 14th at State

Humboldt, IA -It was announced at the Iowa High School girls wrestling tournament on Saturday in Coralville that the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has officially sanctioned girls wrestling as a high school sport in Iowa.

Here’s Humboldt Head Wrestling Coach Andy Newell.

 A look at how Humboldt girls wrestling did at the State Tournament, the Wildcats placed 13th out of 155 teams. Rylee Coyle was the top finisher for Humboldt placing 2nd at 285, Ava McEntire placed 5th in the 120 pound silver bracket, Maria Elizondo placed 7th at 170, and Lexi Roberts placed 8th in 125 pound silver bracket.  For more on Humboldt girls wrestling, listen to the next Coaches Corner presented by 716 Main on Saturday at 8:20 for Coach Andy Newell’s full comments and results.
