Humboldt native appointed as volunteer fire fighter

Humboldt, IA – On Monday at the Humboldt City Council meeting, the Council unanimously approved the appointment of Nate Conlon as a volunteer firefighter at the Humboldt Fire Department.

Conlon introduced himself to the City Council on Monday, here’s what he said.

Humboldt City Mayor Dan Scholl asked about how Conlon would respond to a fire in Humboldt with him working in Fort Dodge and Conlon explained that even though his employer’s office is out of Fort Dodge, he currently work from s from home in Humboldt. Humboldt Fire Chief Jim Gronbach said that if he is in Fort Dodge for work, he has the blessing from his employer and his wife to come back to Humboldt and fight fires. Conlon has gone through the initial procedures of the hiring process and next has to go through the training program.
