Pocahontas, IA -The Pocahontas Engineering Department has issued a statement regarding road closures in Pocahontas County. A portion of C56 West of Palmer is being closed to through traffic for biosecurity reasons related to positive bird flu infections in Buena Vista County.
A press release by the County states that that the closed route is approximately ¾ of a mile to protect the poultry farm located on C56.
The farm owner requested the temporary road closure to protect the farm from disease transmission.
Additional temporary closures on granular surfaced roads include 590th ST between 240th Ave and 25th Ave
170th Ave between 530th St and 540th St.560th St West of 160th Ave
and 560th St between 210th Ave and 220th Ave.
The Pocahontas Engineer and Pocahontas Board of Supervisors will evaluate the continued need for temporary closures weekly.
