Fort Dodge, IA – Multiple fire crews battled an early morning fire at a popular restaurant.
According to the Fort Dodge Fire Department (FDFD), a report of smoke was received at 4:03 a.m. at Amigos, located at 280 South 1st St. Upon arrival, the department saw smoke coming from the attic and back of the building. FDFD Quickly initiated fire attack, search, and ventilation procedures.
The fire was significantly involved in the attic and on the south side of the structure. Multiple handlines were required to bring the fire under control, and an extensive overhaul of the fire area was conducted. A second alarm brought in five off-duty firefighters to staff the station and additional resources, including Ladder 1, were brought to the scene.
According to a press release, 18 Fort Dodge Fire Department personnel were on-site for approximately three hours. One firefighter sustained a non-life-threatening injury.
The building is currently owned by MWC, LLC. and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. The Fort Dodge Fire Department was assisted by the Fort Dodge Police Department and Mid-American Energy.
