DNR Investigating Manure Spill Near Eagle Grove from Sunday, Property Owned by Humboldt LLC

Eagle Grove, Iowa —- The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating a manure spill on a hog confinement near Eagle Grove, Sunday, DNR officials say.

The confinement is owned by DMC Property Rentals, a Humboldt-based LLC.

According to the Iowa DNR, the location is about four miles southwest of Eagle Grove.

The manure flowed into a ditch near the Boone River.

The owner of the property, Mitch Christopher, recognized the spillage Monday morning and built dams to preserve the waterway nearby.

The DNR said that the ammonia levels nearby were normal, the incident remains in investigation.
