Spencer, Iowa — Talented sophomore runner Quinton Orr is headed back to the State XC meet, this time around he’ll be joined by Joseph Kunert, too.
Kunert finished 8th in Spencer to auto-qualify for the state meet for the first time.
Orr finished 1st overall, running 16:29. Kunert ran 17:11.
Algona’s Trey Engen finished one spot behind Orr for 2nd place, but was 20 seconds off his pace, running 16:48.60.
MOC-Floyd Valley senior Jakob Van Der Werff finished 3rd, after running 16:54.62.
Humboldt finished second overall as a team, narrowly losing to Sergeant Bluff-Luton, 76-79.
Devon Coon and Erick Wittrock both were top-20 finishers aiding the Cats’ cause.
MOC-Floyd finished 3rd with 103 points in total.
The state cross country meet will be held in Fort Dodge next weekend at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course.
