Humboldt, IA — The weekly meeting for the Humboldt County Supervisors happened yesterday at the Humboldt County Courthouse.

Order of business included County Sanitarian Dave Stalls going over ordinance changes for the state and county. Stall says that the county will have to incorporate their own ordinances for tanning facilities, tattoo parlors, and public swimming pools as the state will no longer do yearly inspections on their own without a filed complaint or problem.

Stall says that some counties go years without inspection because of this new issuance. Currently, Humboldt County has three public pools, four tattoo parlors, and six tanning facilities. County Engineer then followed up to approve a resolution for Supervisor Chairman David Lee to be the digital contract signer for Department of Transportation documents.

Also, the board approved an application to work in the right of way for Martin Marietta on Penn Avenue and 210th street. Discussion then moved to removal of asbestos from the courthouse basement which was approved at the estimate of $3,807.40. A list of approvals were then made starting with Von Bokern Assocaties assist with update of personnel policy, place on file the Veteren Affairs Quarterly Report, and the Sheriff’s Quarterly and Annual Report.

Jailer Shirley Boomgarden’s resignation was approved as she will be retiring at the end of August. Finally, the board approved space on the Humboldt County Courthouse grounds for Bible readings to take place on September 8th to September 11th. The weekly meeting closed with committee reports from the past week by all supervisor members.
