Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt City Hall will be closing its doors to general public until further notice.

City Administrator Travis Goedken tells KHBT that the City of Humboldt has been taking a proactive approach this week to help avoid the spread of COVID-19. He said that city closed the Humboldt Rec Center and Humboldt Public Library in attempts to limit the spread. These closures came at Monday, March 16, a day before Governor Reynolds calls for the state wide shut downs.

While it was the hope of the city staff that they would be able to keep City Hall open, Goedken says after consultation with Public Health and County officials City Hall will be closing its doors to the public until further notice. City employees will still be in the office working while taking phone calls and answer emails during this closure.

He says that workers will be able to carry out 98% of their jobs without face to face interaction. He also says that it was not an easy decision to make but the City has to consider the health of their employees and the public.

Any payments needing to be made during this closure can be left in the drop box outside City Hall or payed online at cityofhumboldt.org.

Residents with questions can call City Hall at 515-332-3435 or by emailing [email protected].
