Hy-Capacity providing PPE for HCMH

Humboldt, IA – A local business is dedicating some of its team and working with the community to provide PPE for HCMH.

On Monday, April 20, Director of Community Development at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Mardi Ratzlaff shares with KHBT that the local Hy-Capacity has been working to create personal protection equipment for the hospital. The report says the process all started at the end March by contacting HCMH CEO Michelle Sleiter in regards to PPE shortage.

Once the need was apparent for masks, Sleiter informed the local Hy-Capcity who immediately answered the call. They gathered up their team and figured out if it was feasible for them to make masks. Based off the pattern provided by HCMH the answer was a quick yes. The team at Hy-Capacity acquired the assistance of V&S Variety for the right materials and Jensen Trailers to help work out a solution for the nose piece.

Sleiter also asked Hy-Capacity about the ability of making gowns. The team agreed that was a possibility and began to collect the materials necessary.

While Hy-Capacity continued to work hard to create masks and gowns, members in the community began to help as well. The team at Hy-Capacity began to send out kits for people to take home and begin making masks. Volunteers have been able to make an additional 200 masks.
