Dakota City, IA – The Board of Supervisors reaches decision on purchasing dump trucks for the secondary road department after two weeks of discussing options.

During a recent meeting of the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors they began discussing options on providing new dump trucks and snow equipment for the Secondary roads department. Discussions began on Monday, April 6 when County Engineer Ben Loots bought quotes before the Board of Supervisors.

During these discussions a couple of Board members brought forth the idea of using a smaller semi-truck with a belly dump in place of the dump trucks. Loots says that because of the multiple uses of these dump trucks including stockpiling of dirt piles a belly dump would not be practical. The board decided to table the discussion during this meeting.

A week later during another meeting of the Board of Supervisors the board alongside Loots reopened the discussions. Loots presented five quotes to the board for consideration. After discussion the board motioned and approved the purchase of two dump trucks from Don’s Truck Sales for a final sum of $309,000.
