Humboldt, IA – A vehicle only parade is planned for this Thursday to help brighten the days of those who are unable to receive visits from their family due to the on going pandemic.

The Humboldt Care Centers and Long Term Care are planning to have a COVID-19 friendly parade for their residents. The parade is set for Thursday, April 30 and plans to feature as many types of vehicles as possible.

Activity Director and Administrative Assistant with the Humboldt Care Center Jessica Habhab says they hope to get as much of the community involved as possible and there is an open invitation. She says “even if you don’t have any family or know anybody in any of the either Humboldt Care Center facilities or Long Term Care, the more people the merrier.”

Habhab says that theme of the parade is all about family and that family is everything, especially for the residents at the Humboldt Care Centers and Long Term Care. “That’s what they enjoy; they look forward to their family coming and seeing them” she says and commenting that is difficult for the residents now that they can’t see their loved ones. The parade is hopefully one way that the staff plans to lift the spirits of their residents.

It is confirmed that the parade will have a police escort for the entirety of the event. Habhab says residents will be able to see their loved ones drive by as they wave and smile. Cars will begin lining up at the high school around 12:40 pm and the parade will start at 1 pm on Thursday and be about an hour long.
