Dakota City, IA – The Humboldt CSD are beginning the process to invest in improvements to the parking lot at the high school.

During a special meeting of the Humboldt Community School District Board of Education Interim Superintendent Mike Sherwood reported to the board specifications on how the process to improve the parking lot at Humboldt High Schools will continue forward. Sherwood says that he met with members of the board and staff to discuss how to begin the process.

He says the process would start by hiring a design engineer to put the project together and ready for bid. The design would include putting together bid details, gathering cost estimates and move the project to the next stage of gathering bids. A bid date is expected to occur in mid-May.

The board approved the services of Sande Construction to help put together the project for a sum of $44,000. Sherwood spoke highly of Sande saying they were a fair price and included a few extra services like electric engineering. The board will continue to discuss funding for the project based on the cost estimate gathered by Sande construction.
