Newest proclamation, additional businesses can reopen

Des Moines, IA – Iowa governor continues the Public Health Disaster Emergency until June 25 and announces more businesses that may reopen.

During a press conference on May 26, Gov. Kim Reynolds announced she would be extending the Public Health Disaster Emergency proclamation until June 25. She also announced additional businesses that may reopen on June 1. All businesses will be required to follow public health measures and follow with capacity limits and social distancing standards.

The follow will be allowed to reopen on June 1:

  • Outdoor performance venues for live music events.
  • Casinos and other gaming facilities.
  • Bowling alleys.
  • Amusement parks.
  • Skating rinks and parks.
  • Outdoor playgrounds.

In addition the newest proclamation will lift the restrictions on larger gatherings. Gov. Reynolds announced that social, community, recreational, leisure and sporting gatherings of more than 10 people will be allowed starting June 1. Venues must operate of 50% capacity and maintain six feet of social distancing.
