Wildcat Softball dominates first home game of 2020

Humboldt, IA – Wildcat Softball only needs six innings to win their second game of the season.

On Wednesday, June 17, The Humboldt High School Wildcats Softball team played host to the Clear Lake Lions. It was a victory for the home team, final score of 11-0. The scoring came early and often for the Wildcats after Jori Hajeck drove a two run homer past the left center field fence at the top of the first. The Wildcats only failed to record in a hit in one inning (the fifth) walked it off via mercy rule in the bottom of the sixth with a three run homer off the bat of Kendal Clark. Starting pitcher Ellie Jacobson recorded eleven strikeouts and only allowed three hits in five innings of work.

Stats of interest:

  • Kendal Clark was 3-4 with four RBIs and reach on an error as well.
  • Jori Hajek was 2-4 with two RBIs on a home run and stole a base.
  • Rising freshman Reagan Lee made her pitching debut, faced four batters in one inning of work without a hit or run against her.

The Wildcats are now 2-0 on the season. The next game for Humboldt High School will be Thursday, June 18 as they host Forest City. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
