Dakota City, IA – The board of supervisors approves the sale of an old sheriff’s deputy vehicle to a dealership out of Chicago.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s office sells an old vehicle to an out of state dealership. On Monday, July 20, during the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors meeting, County Sheriff Dean Kruger and Chief Deputy Corey Lampe opened sealed bids for purchase of an old police cruiser. In total the sheriff’s office received eight bids for the vehicle ranging from just of $2,000 to just over $5,000.

The vehicle sold is a 2015 Dodge Charger with about 141,000 miles on it. The sale was to Chicago Motors Sales for a total of $5,207. Sheriff Kruger did report there were a few minor issues needing to be repaired before sale but they were handled by the office. When asked about who was responsible for transporting the vehicle from Humboldt to Chicago, Kruger says it is the responsibility of the buyer.

The sale of the vehicle owned by the county did require the approval of the board of supervisors. The sale was approved unanimously.
