Humboldt, IA – Humboldt High School Homecoming is this coming week as a parade and coronation starts it off on Sunday.

For the Humboldt Wildcats they will be getting a chance to celebrate Homecoming in 2020. However, due to COVID-19 guidelines there will be a few changes to the schedule and activities.

A member of the Student Senate Kendal Clark talks about the decision making that went into these changes. She says the school is “super excited” to get to have a homecoming in 2020. The student senate along with school staff and community members has put together the “best possible plan” that follows the COVID-19 public health guidelines. The week will kick off this Sunday, Sept. 13, with the homecoming parade at 6:30 pm followed by the coronation of the 2020 Humboldt High School home coming court at 7:30 pm.

Fellow Student Senator Kailee Dettmann says that each school day the High School will feature a themed “dress up day.” She says that Monday, Sept. 14, will be USA theme day. Tuesday is going to be Disney day and Wednesday is prom or thrift prom. Thursday is going to be “spirit animal” and Friday will be blue and gold day. Dettmann says that on Friday there will also be a movie on the baseball diamond for high school students only following the football game. She encourages all to follow the public health guidelines and finishes with a hearty “go cats.”

The movie following the Friday football game will be in leu of the homecoming dance. This year’s homecoming football game will be against the Webster City Lynx.

The Humboldt High School staff and student senate would like to thank the community for their patience, understand and support during this atypical year. They would like to thank all who have put in the hard work to make Homecoming 2020 possible for the schools.
