Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt High School marching band is hosting an event to help raise funds for the school music department.

As a stable to any Friday night at Mason Maach Field the Humboldt marching band is calling for all Wildcat fans to come out this Saturday for a night of great music. The schools music instructor Drew Barker talks about the event.

He calls it the “big marching band extravaganza” and it will be happening on Saturday, Oct. 3. The event will start at 7 pm at Mason Maach Field. The music instructor says the event will also be streamed through the Humboldt Music Department Facebook page for those who can’t attend in person.

Barker says that the band will be performing three different shows during the event. “It should be a really, really great show,” he says. He says that the high school band has learned three shows this year to be performed at home football games. The first show is called “Hitsville USA” which features the music of Motown. The second show was a “British Invasion” show that features British rock. The third show is “Halloween Spooktacular” and will also include the seventh and eighth grade bands. The music instructor says the final song for that show will be “Thriller” and will include the dance to go along with the music.

Of course there will be COVID-19 guidelines that those in attendance will be asked to follow. Barker says that spectators will be asked to wear masks at the event. Social distancing guidelines will also be in place. “We want to make a nice, safe environment for everybody who attends that.”

The Humboldt High School Marching Band Extravaganza at Mason Maach Field on Saturday, Oct. 3 will be a free will donation even that is open to the public.
